More than 60 Bidayuhs golfers have registered to compete in the YB Dato Sri Michael Manyin Jawong Challenge Trophy also known as World Bidayuh Golf Championship (WBGC), the most so far.

The organizing committee has announced earlier that the closing date decided on 20 July 2013, this is to facilitate other arrangements such as sponsors, goodies, draws, withdrawals and payments are prepared well before the actual tournament.

But like all other years, these routine preparations are not achievable if a golfer makes a call and complaint that his name is left out or others lobbies for self-selected flight arrangement. They are specific people in the committee dealing with these perennial matters and we hope all golfers will appreciate all the preparations that have been going on since day one. For being late in registering is not excusable. WBGC has been going on since 2005 without fail around the same month every year surely we all know this and to give a lame excuse saying you were not aware of it is simply nonsense.

On a brighter note, 9WBGC2013 is very well received. My gratitude goes Datu Ik Pahon Joyik (who despite knowing very well that he would not be able to participate) has once again took the leadership role with the preparation. I hope he has a great time overseas.

Dr Mosko Reuben who has been firm and fair in handling the draws, Robert Elone who has been instrumental in dealing with the KGS officers, firm, tactful and friendly, Ahkim Sarok with his sweet-talking skills rubbing shoulders with our sponsors and yes all other names listed in the organizing committee, Walter Dior, Andrew Peter, James Sinjeng and Albert Tannon. To those who contribute without any name mentioned, yeah Thank You.

The response this year is very encouraging. Major sponsors are generous with good prizes and goodies and why not? This is one of the most-awaited Golf Tournament in the Bidayuh Calendar coinciding with the Gawai Festivals month and many Bidayuhs Golfers from Sibu, Miri and Bintulu make it a point to compete. Even right now there are golfers in a waiting list. To them, maybe next year.
